Dr. David Pugh’s visit to Purdue 9/24/2015
David Pugh, DVM, MS, MAg, DACT, DACVN, & DACVM visited Purdue University’s College of Veterinary Medicine on September 24, 2015. Dr. Pugh is the Director of the Alabama State Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory System and a clinical professor at Auburn University’s College of Veterinary Medicine. His interests are in small ruminant and equid nutrition, parasite management and herd health.
On September 24th, Dr. Pugh provided two lectures to the members of the Student Chapter of the Society for Theriogenology and the Student Chapter of Food Animal Club. During the noon lecture, Dr. Pugh discussed nutritional requirements for small ruminant gestation. He also demonstrated the relationship between nutrition, vaccinations & parasites, reproductive management, and veterinary care. During the evening lecture Dr. Pugh discussed causes, diagnosis, and prevention of pregnancy loss in small ruminants. Members learned about the zoonotic potential and how to reduce the risk of transmitting these diseases. Dr. Pugh had the opportunity to interact with the students and faculty, tour the hospital and learn about the exciting things that are going on at Purdue University’s College of Veterinary Medicine.
